Eastleigh Lakeside Steam Railway. Started in 1991 with a very modest
7.¼" gauge track from 1 container. Over the last few years it has grown
into 1¼ miles long and has put in 10¼" gauge as well along with a large

Rhyl Miniature Railway first opened on 1st May 1911, and is now the oldest miniature line in the UK. Many of today's passengers rode
on it as children, and are now bringing the next generation to share
in the experience.

Weston Super Mare Miniature Railway built by Robin Butterell in 1981 The WMR runs for over half a mile around an 18 hole putting green and along the seafront. There is a refreshment kiosk and gift shop at this typical seaside miniature railway.    www.westonminiaturerailway.co.uk          

Wimbish Light Railway is actually a 10¼" miniature gauge private line located in North Essex was started in 1980 and runs for about 1200 yards in a complex layout. Visitors only by appointment - volunteers always welcome.                                         www.wimbish-railway.co.uk

South Downs Light Railway Society enters its eight year of
existence with a list of achievements and a superb locomotives & rolling stock collection that is the envy of many long established groups.

Moors Valley Railway was started in 1985. It is a small narrow gauge
7¼" railway. A mile long, it has 2 stations and is fully signalled with tunnels and bridges. There is a gift/model shop and a refreshment kiosk.

North Bay Railway opened in 1931 to 20" gauge. Using four historic Hudswell Clarke Locomotives, one of them 'Neptune' is the oldest diesel hydraulic in the world. There is also a gift shop and buffet coach.

Stapleford Miniature Railway opened in 1958 as a commercial railway. Now put in preservation by Lady Gretton and restored since 1993 under the supporting "friends" group. 2 miles of scenic line one fifth scale steam locos. Only open twice a year to general public .     www.fsmr.org.uk

Exbury Gardens Steam Railway was opened in August 2001.
The 12¼" gauge track carries approx. 55,000 passengers a year along
a 1¼ mile track around the Yard Wood area of the

Mull Rail opened in 1973 by Chris Green of Scotrail in true Heywood style takes visitors on a 1¼ mile scenic ride with  panoramic views of
Ben Nevis and The Glencoe Hills. The first Scottish island 10¼ " gauge railway runs daily from Easter to end of  October.   www.mullrail.co.uk

The Almond Blossom Railway is a private 7¼" gauge estate railway  under construction in Spain. It is intended to serve a small almond grove as well as serving as a focus for local enthusiasts. The Heywood & 7¼ Gauge Society members may visit by appointment.  Almond Blossom Rail

Conway Valley was built by Alan Prat & Geoff Oughton in the early 70s and is now run by Colin Cartwright. It has over a mile of 7¼" railway also a 15" gauge Tram line ½ mile long.  A large museum houses live steam models along with a buffet/restaurant car.   www.conwyrailwaymuseum
